e8416b1d9cb3068 My top featured Fish Bowl a novelty one

The first time I saw a similar design was in Las Vegas back in 2006. Forgot the name of the store, after finishing watching the real behavior art performaner, I noticed a small crowd of people just gathering in front of a gadget store. I am an all time gadget lover, when I went closer, I saw that fountain, actually a barrel and an old style faucet on the top of the barrel without any support, it seemed that water was running from nowhere. What a clever desgin. I love this Fish Bowl for the same reason, simple and neat design. A fun and oriental touch for home decor. Hope you like it too.

I love my Mini Aquarium decor. It gave me the feeling of good luck. In some Asian countries, aqua (water) means fortune. Mini Aquarium is easier to take care and maintain. You can start with one fish or two and some artificial plants. If the aquarium still has room, you then can add some Aquarium Decorations in it to make your own style. What is your favorite theme? Sunken ship, Dragon and treasure cabinet, Little Mermaid or oriental bridge? It’s such a joy to make a world for your new fish. As far as the set up process is done, we can put our new friend into the aquarium. One thing you need to remember is please only put articles that labled “for aquarium use” into the aquarium. For the safe of your fish and aquarium.

I recently got 2 fantail goldfish and a 1 gallon fish bowl. I’ve been changing the water everyday as soon as I see they are coming to the top for air. I was wondering if there was any way to increase the oxygen in the Fish Bowl so I don’t have to change the water every single day? Aside from an oxygen pump or buying a larger bowl.

You can’t keep fish in a bowl, especially not goldfish. Goldfish are extremely heavy waste producers that give off way more ammonia than a different fish of a similar size. It’s impossible to keep the water healthy without a decent tank and lots of filtration. Eventually a fancy goldfish really needs 20 gallons of water with 40 gallons worth of filtration to keep the ammonia from getting to toxic levels. You could start with a 10 gallon for about a year for your two fantails, then would need to upgrade. You know this is not an appropriate home because your fish are starving for oxygen–you said so yourself. That said, while they are in a bowl you’re better off changing at least half the water every day. Don’t clean the whole thing and especially don’t rinse the gravel. Water movement (like from a filter) is what adds oxygen to the water. Air pumps only add oxygen to the tank because the air bubbles burst on the surface and create water movement. You can add oxygen by using a clean eyedropper and spending a few minutes sucking up and spitting out water to create lots of water movement. This will give a quick injection of oxygen into the water. Repeat several times a day to replenish the oxygen. It won’t replace water changes because in a bowl, the ammonia quickly builds up to toxic levels.

I also put a lava rock into my tank. It’s a newly established tank, and the ph and ammonia levels are fine, but I have a high fish mortality rate and am wondering if the fake plants are the culprit.

NO. Silk plants are made of a variety of ways. if they are not labeled aqaurium safe they may have toxic chemicals in the dyes, stem and adhesives causing your fish death. There is a company that makes aquarium safe silk plants which will work fine, but you cannot safely use just any craft store silk plant. Often the stems are made of a cheap low cost metal material that reacts in water, the adhesvie glues can break down and release toxins, and the dyes of the leaves are soluable in water and release into it. Also, they may not be true ‘silk’ leaves and may be a synthetic that is not safe for aqauriums. Plastic plants and the new ultrarealistic plants are a good choice. The new varieties are very relasitic.

I want to own a mini aquarium, I want to place it in a small location in a room, and I want to keep about 5 fishes max inside this aquarium. It’s for display purposes only and maybe a little hobby, and I thought it might be interesting to watch fishes swim around. Are there anything I need to think about? It’s only going to be a very small one, and I want to decorate the inside with nice coral and other objects, so it looks like a nice mini-tank. I’m afraid about water getting dirtied etc… Can anyone give me advice on what to expect?

If you are think a Mini Aquarium, for sure saltwater tank is out of the picture. My first aquarium was a 2.5 gallon fish tank. It was pretty easy to maintain. I had two guppies and two neon tetras in it. They are pretty in the tank and they are cheap. The whole set-up cost is around $60, or less. It may be stressful at first if your fish dies, but honestly you should be expecting it. As a first time tank owner, I lost two fish in one days. I persevered and kept it successfully and now I have a 20 gallon fish tank. If it’s a mini aquarium, you need to oberve the clarity of the water. Sometimes, I changed water every other day, sometime, every three or four days. At least, every two weeks, you need to clean the tank. Talking about Aquarium Decorations, you have to decide a theme in mind first, then find the right ornament to fit in the fish tank. Wish you all the best with your mini aquarium.

i know obviously i could put a betta fish in a small one or two gallon Fish Bowl but i would like to know if i could put any other types of fish in there. also is it possible to put live plants in there or would plastic be the best choice?

One or two gallon fish bowl is not that spacious, I personally will go with plastic plants and gold fish. Reason is gold fish is easy to take care and they are creatures easy with limited space.

A friend of mine gave me a female betta as a present because he didn’t know that it cannot live together with my male betta on its 10 gallon tank.
Right now she is in a 0.6 gallon bowl and i just feel sorry about her. Right now I can’t afford anything bigger than a 2.5 gallon Mini Aquarium (with filter). I know it’s better to have 5+ tank but i just can’t afford it. Is it bad to put her in a 2.5 gallon tank?

The 2.5g will do, as long as its cycled as well as filtered and has good weekly maintenance. It’s definitely an improvement on the poor thing’s current environment!

Save up and you can upgrade her to a 5-10g in future.

7 neon tetras, 3 honey gouramis and 5 panda cories, I have a 20 gallon aquarium, also could i put a male betta in it.
I was not planning on putting them all in at the same time, i already have the tetras
Ceci, I was not going to put three males, I am going to get 2 females and 1 male

Sounds great! Wonderful stocking plan. =D I would add the gouramis next, then the panda cories as they will do much better in an established, "mature" aquarium. =) Be sure to well-plant your tank, as the gouramis will be much more bold if they know they have some hiding places to retreat to. Caves and rocks to hide under are also a good idea, and they’re a nice way to accentuate your aquascape and offer some relief to the green of the plants.

The betta will be fine, and you don’t have to worry about him and the gouramis fighting. They’ll establish a pecking order and will leave each other alone. In a previous tank, I had a betta in with three male dwarf gouramis and 5 female dwarf gouramis and no one ever bothered anyone. I now have 3 pearl gouramis, one male and two females, in with a male betta and they get along just fine. =)

I think it would be okay just make sure the gravel has all the dust and dirt rinsed off and pour it in the tank slowly// I’d like to have one myself// what size do you have? Here in Tn we can buy game fish (bas, bream, bluegill and catfish and i think it would be neat to have an aquarium and put those fish in it///
